I know the media usually doesn't cover incidents like this to avoid encouraging copycats. I wonder how frequently they occur.

I know a few years ago, atlanta had about 6 in one summer.

And wouldn't fencing on these bridges help some?

I can't speak to overall frequency, but this particular individual would linger by the rail on a weekly basis last year until calmed down by police and medical personnel, before being whisked away in an ambulance. I haven't seen them out there since maybe April of last year, but the scenario played out the same as it always used to.

I wonder if this is the same person I called 911 for about a year ago. It was around 9pm and I was heading south over the bridge, and he was leaning against the rail with his head on his arms...a defeated posture. I thought I saw him again a few months ago and wondered if it was the same person.
