That's the Gateway Building entrance. Possibly someone was shot somewhere else and they were brought there in a private car instead of the Emergency Department entrance, it's happened before. If someone was shot there, I would have heard it...

I wonder if they called 911 and got put on hold and decided taking someone by car was faster.

This happens pretty frequently.

I sure hope people are making that choice rather than waiting. There's been a lot of studies recently on quicker transport to a trauma hospital versus EMS care in the field / on the way, and the take-away as far as I can tell is that faster transport to the hospital is much more important for survival and other outcomes than involvement of EMS.

Here's some of the studies:https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S002013831400271Xhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5912155/

More likely they didn’t want the heat and took the victim and dropped him off. If you call an ambulance for a shooting victim you set off a police investigation.

Yea, that’s what I was thinking. And they’d likely lock things down if there was an actual shooting right there. Thanks!

Happens routinely. When I’m parked in the loop and see a vehicle with 4 ways and driving frantically, I worry that I’ll be stuck there- so there’s that

Someone arrived at the ER shot, that is where the call for service was initiated - could have happened somewhere else in the city or even in the counties.
