That's it, does anyone know anything about it? Looked like lightning but didn't sound like it and it's clear out. Just happened, 12:20 am.

Yeah I could hear it as well, very loud and big sounding, definitely not a gunshot ,train, or fireworks. Heard some sirens then some planes
I'm just tryna watch some bad reality TV man. Last week with the cars all night now this. Why are you like this richmond lmao
Heard it near Malvern Avenue. Crazy loud. My fiance and I looked at each other and were like, "what was that?!"
Heard over near Carytown; thought someone was just driving reckless and slammed into a parked car.
I’m amazed there’s no hubbub about it, this wasn’t your average volley of gunfire or trains slamming into each other.
Scared that crap out of me
This is the second large mystery explosion in as many nights posted on r/rva.
So far no satisfactory explanations, so I'm going with woodboogers.
From last night, around the same time:

Woodbooger! Should have guessed it last night, it's so clear. Someone alert Denver Riggleman!
Dude my bad, prolly me.
Chipotle earlier 🌯
Car is totaled
So... what was it?
Probably acorns
An explosion
Obligatory “fireworks at the Diamond” comment
Clearly this was just some light reflecting off of Jupiter and mixing with our atmosphere it caused a small person to spontaneously combust.
The Squirrels season ended last month.
heard it. I assume a transformer blew
Return of the northside bombers?
Yes!! I heard it last night and it made me jump!
Edit: I was on my couch and didn’t see any flash/light but I was wondering if something dropped from the construction site across from Broad. It did sound like an explosion of some sort though.
A couple people have mentioned that in both threads, but I would think that would result in power outages that we'd also hear about.
I heard it too, but further away. It sounded like faint thunder and I could have sworn I heard it two or three times, not just the one.
That’s near the train tracks, so it could be a train starting or stopping and the slack between the car connectors running in or out. Makes a huge crashing boom sound. I’ve heard it while hiking on Northbank and Buttermilk and it sounds like a goddamn missile. Maybe the other night’s was near some tracks too? Or 🌯💥?
depends what's connected and how fast they got it up. I heard the boom, it was pretty late, the people connected might have been sleeping.
Any other explosion would make news, transformers blowing up don't.
I have never lived in a place where so many transformers have blown up as an aside. I wonder if dominion bought a bunch at Big johns used car and transformer dealership.

Yeah I used to live next to a power plant, it’s definitely a transformer explosion
‘‘Twas in jest. I see that comment on most “what was that noise” post and thought it was a Richmond Reddit rite of passage, like being the one to make the daily thread… back under my rock I go!
Kicking it old school.

I heard it further west too, wild loud. No it wasn’t fireworks.
