We mow a couple of properties over there and can 100% agree. Not sure why some people just don't gaf about the place they call home regardless of owning or renting. AABlvd is also a poop pile.

Apparently we are still aspiring to that “living in a society” thing. Or maybe we got there and decided it was too much work. Leaving the bag is especially infuriating to me…like they are picturing in their heads that the staff are coming along later for the bags. Listen up, you guys, there is no staff coming for those bags.

Putting the poop in a bag, and then leaving it for someone else to pick up and throw away is so very low.

Pretty sure a lot of the guilty live in 3600 building. The new thing to do is let their dog poop in the parking lot and then it gets tracked all over the place. There has been a shit track all the way down the sidewalk leading into the entrance for 2 months. You should see the elevators we have to ride on, dog piss everywhere!

I don't live anywhere near SA, and I've also noticed this leaving of the poop bag trend. It's confounding.

Also, please stop taking your crated dog to kids playgrounds. That would be nice.

What the actual f*** is with people who bang their dog's poop and then leave the poop filled bag on the sidewalk. What in the hell is the thought process

Lol we had visitors the other week and they said verbatim, “we love it here but there’s a dog poop problem”

I've thought that maybe this is why it's done too, but the poo bags just stay in the same place day after day until a car runs them over. The number of abandoned bags also seem too numerous for them to have been forgotten. It's a mystery!

Monroe Ward too. Dog poop everywhere.

The dog parks in Chesterfield are pretty bad with lots of poop all over the place

I would recommend this poop bag holder to anyone with a normal strap style leash. It might fit on a cord/rope style too, but it depends on the thickness of the rope.

Key benefits are:

  • There's 3 contact points, so it stays put near the handle of the leash.

  • It provides good leverage to tear the bags at the perforation on the roll. You won't accidentally tear a bag and get poo on your finger.

  • It's fabric as opposed to hard plastic, so after a while you learn what the thickness literally feels like when you get down to the last bag or two in a roll. When you know the rolls getting low, you can stash a replacement roll in your pocket. We've all been on three-poop walks with two bags left on the roll...

  • You can fold up and stash a public bag or two if you screw up replacing the roll on time.

  • It has a carrying hook at the bottom so you can knot-up, clip onto, and carry the used bags there until you find a waste bin.

  • At $12 it's pretty easily replaceable if/when the zipper breaks. I had a zipper go after over two years with a puppy who could shit up to 6 times a day frequently (turns out he has IBD). Now that his IBD is under control he's pooping 2-3 times a day, so the zipper isn't going to need nearly as much use.

Scott’s Addition has minimal green space and no trash cans. Shit on the street is obviously unacceptable (it’s also far too common in Manchester) but that area is doomed for dog owners.

I do this at Forest Hill park several times a week. My dogs shit on the way down the hill to the lake, bag it and leave it just off the trail to grab on the hike back out.

I used to leave them out of sight behind trees or bushes but then I lost a pair of them one time so I just kind of leave them next to the path.

Scott's Addition is a concrete wasteland. There are like 3 trees in the whole area. Just be happy the dog shit is in a bag.

cleaning up shit is a no-brainer (more poop bins are needed though), but where else do you expect the dogs to piss? can't walk them in the streets...

No pee on the sidewalk is the new line in the sand? Are you walking around SA barefoot?

I don’t live in Scott’s addition but I just want to show up to say, I’m sorry my puppy pees on the sidewalk. She’s a derpy 5 mo old, can’t control her bladder completely yet, and I won’t choke her for peeing outside.

spiirel t1_j2dqr9r wrote

It’s not nearly that hard to pick up after your pet. I definitely think the area could increase trash pickup frequency and green space. But it’s not an excuse for poor dog ownership. I see a lot of poop behind Symbol where there is a dog bag bin and several trash cans.

I get the poop bag thing. But really where else is a dog to piss in a city other than a sidewalk? Come on…

ichheissekate t1_j2dxfnm wrote

Honestly the leaving it somewhere thing isn’t acceptable. Instead of the dog owner dealing with their own dog’s waste, now everyone walking by wherever the owner left the shit bag gets to see it and smell it. It’s still littering temporarily, and its selfish of owners who do this to make everyone else smell it so they don’t have to.

stickynohte t1_j2ej8st wrote

There are lots of dog bag dispensers/receptacles around SA. I know the one along the sidewalk to crunch has been overflowing for a while now. Ultimately if the dog owner chooses to live in a concrete neighborhood, it’s up to them to figure out how to still do their job as a pet owner and not half-ass the job.
