Maybe, but good chat bots require a lot of "intelligence" and "understanding" , and these things are also necessary for evaluation and prediction. I notice this when I use chatGPT to code. Sometimes it predicts what I'm trying to do without asking. It's predictions can be wrong, which is annoying because it gives me code I don't need, but if it was better at prediction it would better than a human partner.

That intelligence came as a surprise. No one expected LLMs to bring us the closest to AGI we've ever been.
