For some there was the takeoff of the internet, that turned many regular people into millionaires. Jeff Bezos making amazon, Zuck making Facebook etc. During the industrial revolution, certain people became very wealthy, think Rockefeller and Carnegie. During periods of large technological change, there is a vast amount of opportunity for people to change their lives.

If you are on this sub, you know the AI revolution is coming. It's already here, with apps like Lensa AI taking off and Chatgpt. In the next few years AI will start to take over major fields, from AI photo editing like Lensa, to generating art, to some knowledge based jobs like radiology and coding. If you can create just one of those AIs, think maybe a AI in the medical field that automates a task like diagnosing illnesses with Radiology, you can get vastly the wealthy.

The wealth isn't really what motivates me. The ability to shape the future and the trajectory of AI is very desirable. you can use the wealth and team from the medical AI to make AIs that you want. Instead of using something like chatgpt, that has all these controls on it that limit you, you could be the one to decide the controls. You want the AI to seem like a person so people can develop connections with it like in the movie Her? you can. You want to make AI photos and videos that can produce controversial media that another company would ban? you can. You could dump your money into developing humanoid machines like in Detroit Become Human. The possibilities are endless.

Just how past generations had there opportunity with their shifts in economy, our turn is coming up. Just being on this sub you are ahead of most, because you are aware of the changes and even more important, you are passionate about it to where if you put that motivation towards a goal, you could control a slice of the AI changes that are coming.

We all should learn about AI. there are many low cost AI/ML courses on the internet on any specific topic you want. Computer vision, Neural Networks, Unsupervised Learning, etc. Try different courses, maybe learn about running a bussiness. If you don't try you will be kicking yourself later on. "I knew this change was coming, that could have been me running that company, wealthy, and deciding what AIs are made next"

Personally, I'm finishing my bacholors in software engineering this may. After that I want to take courses on AI/ML/Business/Communications, work as a software engineer for awhile, save up money, start an AI company, using recent advances in AI to automate some task in some field. How far will I get in this plan? Will I be successful in all of that? probably not. Who knows. But we should all try. Because if we don't, someone else will, and we'll regret not going for it when we had the chance.

There is a chance of a lifetime that AI will put current socioeconomic system in to dusty archives of history books.

But yes we should study more to navigate better in whatever future will bring us.

From someone who has thought of similar things a while ago, it is very difficult to beat the established companies. These people were doing AI decades ago and the probability of you beating them alone is abysmal. Better to build a company in something else that might benefit from AI.

This is not easy money like bitcoin was. You can't just hodl your way to billions.

I'd like to believe that society and economic standards will change, but the people in power will not want to give up the power they have. The people in power do not want change. Do you think any millionaire/billionaire wants a post capitalist world?

And our politicians / leaders are beholden to the rich. Unlimited donations have made sure that's the case. Legalized bribery. UBI maybe, but I dont see the system changing much, at least for a few decades. many people will probably have a rough time ahead.

Very possible. But that would mean holding back progress and those who will embrace AI and changes that it will bring will have a competitive edge that will grow exponentially - same thing that happened with feudalism and monarchies when industrial era has begun, changed the productive means and society.
