Fortunately Canadian senators have minimal influence over the legislative process.

Tbh the Canadian senate is extremely pointless why does it even exist at this point.

Why indeed!? I just think it’s parties giving cushy jobs to friends total BS

Y8ser t1_iv2l4uw wrote

It would be, not sure how that would work though. The team is valued at $650 million and his net worth is $150 million. He could be the head of a group of investors, but doesn't have the cash to buy the team on his own unless I'm missing something.

10

mywerkaccount t1_iv36tit wrote

He doesn't have that kind of cash. And although all this speculation came from a single emoji response to a twitter post it wouldn't surprise me if he'd be interested in a small share of ownership given his time in Ottawa.

houseofprimetofu t1_iv3wv33 wrote

Well he did just buy an entire English football team, so he has some money…

WakeUpMareeple t1_iv4co4f wrote

A club in the 5th division of English football is a bit cheaper than an NHL team.

They should do what Green Bay did with the Packers, and let the citizens of Ottawa themselves buy the franchise.

It's funny just yesterday I read that the team wouldnt even be ready to announce a sale for at least another month. Then all the Ryan Reynolds shit started and I'm just wondering if they are trying to cash in on all the publicity to pull in investors to purchase, not just Ryan but using that as a catalyst to drum up interest.
