Celebrating my 21st this weekend and wanted to know the consensus for the best place in Springfield. Looking for more laid back vs. club scene and not super into beer but definitely ready to try new stuff!

Mudlounge has a wide variety of special beers, cocktails, wine, etc. Very chill atmosphere.

J.O.B. has a bunch of taps, an incredible selection of bourbon as well as some of the best bar food around. Pop over to their connected sister-bar Prime Time for some games while you're there.

The Flea is a very nostalgic vibe, aka "dive bar" with friendly staff and a diverse mix of patrons. Nothing crazy on the drink selection, but well priced and a great place to hang with friends or make new ones.

Golden Girl Rum Club for beachy cocktails that are very well made, delicious and strong. Their kitchen also offers unique pizzas, tacos, appetizers, ramen and some other things you won't find elsewhere.

Mudlounge and J.O.B are my go to. Hit the Mud for a few drinks, JOB is right next door for the food, go back for more drinks after to finish the night.

An old coworker of mine used to play weekend gigs at The Flea here and there, if anyone ever catches Wheelhouse there be sure to ask the bassist about his custom Barbie doll lmao

Lindberg's makes excellent drinks and makes for a good spot to eat and have a couple of drinks before the real party gets started at another bar.

Can confirm! Great place for conversation and what not before you head out on the town.

Ruthies is fun for karaoke!

Hold Fast Brewery is one of my favorites. I don’t do beer either but they have some hard ciders and an alcoholic slushy machine that is so good! They usually have fun events and or live music and a food truck depending on what do you go!

417Taphouse is the absolute best bar downtown, hands down. Such a great vibe, major chill, amazing drink selection, good food. Awesome patio. Place wins my downtown vote, hands down.

If you're looking for a more authentic Springfield experience, I love Stepchild's (Lounge) and nobody will convince me that it isn't a banger of an establishment. Major rough and tough exterior with some of the nicest, most welcoming folks I've ever met.

If you're 21, you'll (no doubt) be lured to Friends or Bugsy's which are fine establishments if you're looking for loud, raucous groups of similar aged people looking to make a poor personal decision, but having just turned 31 myself, many years of visiting those kinds of bars have left me with no desire to ever visit them again.

All depends on the kind of fun you're looking to have.

I'll also strongly recommend the SipnSpin with 417PedalTours. It's the best time to be had in Springfield and definitely a great bang for your buck if you have 14 people to party with.

Happy Birthday, cheers!

That place on South Street downtown that used to be Scotch and soda. I think they still have a lot of the same decor. Very chill. Springfield brewing Company The rooftop bar at Vandivort MudLounge

As long as you fit their vibe. I went in there and was passed over for my drink order at least 3 times while they served their friends.

Springfield BrewCo is a great place to go. They've got great food, good beer, and good in-house liquor.

They also have the ability to do flights, which will let you get several different styles of beer or liquor in small portions so you can try a bunch of different types quickly.

The House.

Liquor costs exactly what it costs in the store, they let you pour the drinks yourself, they never cut you off, and pants are optional.

If you have a group and want to try Gokden Girl I suggest making a reservation! And avoid sweet boys j less you wanna wait in a huge line for one drink. Primetime that’s next to/inside of J.O.B is also chill. Anytime I’ve went they’re never full and it shares the big back patio of JOB too. Plenty of space

Foxhole is a fantastic chill place with live music most nights, great staff, and great price on drinks.

Ruthies is an awesome place for karaoke. But get there earlier or call and tel them you’re celebrating your 21st. They may reserve a table for you.

Best of Luck, I’ve heard, is fun as hell, too.

Downtown is great for your 21st. I won’t lie. Trops, GGRC, Finnegans (my FAVORITE downtown bar)

Mudlounge. They have couches. Best bar experiences of my life were chilling in there with some seafood dip and a giant fishbowl of sugary blue cocktail to split with one of my friends.

Edit: I get it. This bit isn't as funny as I thought it. I'll stop.

For a serious answer I don't know how the downtown scene has changed, but I loved Patton Alley Pub. It's been at least a decade since I've been there, but at a younger age I felt it was a good environment. It wasn't a club, but it wasn't a hole in the wall, which Springfield has many of both of those if that's more along the lines of what you're looking for. If Patton Alley is still the same, I feel like it's a solid starter pub.
