whereas the NSA just breaks in and takes it, every day.
Most of the internet is data farming.

Sounds like someone wants an excuse to keep TikTok installed. It's also literally making people depressed when not on the app.

Not really, just pointing out that it's just no different to other social media, it just gets this reaction on here because "Chyyyna bad"

Really more then anything this highlights the absolute need for the Rule of Law. The NSA violated the law spying on Americans. Hopefully it has therefor ended, but who can be sure? If we, the American public, had imparted the demand for the Rule of Law in no uncertain terms on our elected officials, we could be sure.
Instead, we have separated ourselves into tribes that will put up with a little bullshit if it helps our side or disadvantaged the other side. As a result we get the corruption in government that we deserve, because we show ourselves to be at least somewhat corrupt as a society.

The American public regularly makes clear demands for stuff, they are ignored, the US hasn't been a democracy for a long time.
When the CIA can kill presidents allow presidents to be killed, swing elections & install their own (former) agent as president, they are in charge not the public.

Lol. Is this you Alex Jones? Instead of pretending to be powerless you should try to help out.

I am powerless when it comes to the federal government, I focus my energy locally, where things aren't quite as fucked.
In terms of privacy, if it's stored on a server I don't own, I assume the NSA can get the info if they want, it's just that I'm not interesting enough for them to bother, it's not like the FISA courts wouldn't approve it.

Cool, I'd still rather have an agency we can control to some degree vs a foreign power we have no influence over.

One party you’re talking about vowed to keep up our safety and democracy in Europe while the other party you’re talking about completely hates the western world we’re living in. There’s a clear difference

Yeah sure, all for the lovely price of some economic warfare and industrial espionage. Who could disagree with that??

Edit: I also know of no active hostilities from China towards the West. They complain about our meddling but I can't blame then for that.
If the USA would keep to their own as China does, USA wouldn't be known as warmongers.
Torifyme12 t1_irj7nkf wrote
Do we need to get into how much the French spy on us? Or can we just acknowledge that the level of rivalry between Airbus and Boeing isn't the same?

Perfect argument, nobody can disagree with that...

For me Chinese influence is no good because we share the same waters. US is a bit fine since they're far away, and they're busy with games in the middle east anyways.

You think we control the NSA hahahahaha. Who the fuck is “we”? The entire criminal “intelligence” community is unelected.
