Anecdotes are just anecdotes though. The only people I know in real life (i.e. not the internet) thought it was absolute rubbish. Whose anecdote is more likely to represent the larger cohort of viewers? I have no idea.

Some light comparative data from users on my Plex server to add to anecdotal data:

Rings of Power:

~25 total episodes watched
only one user has watched every episode
next farthest along is episode 5

House of the Dragon:

~150 total episodes watched
only one user didn't watch every episode
three users watched it 2+ times through

Not commenting on quality; I just found it interesting.
