TAR moving up to 9. Drama repeats at 10

As a huge TAR fan, thank goodness. Love Boat was a killer.

Will it be like the 80's when they kept putting new sitcoms between Friends and Seinfeld?

90s you mean.

I bet they were hoping for people like me to just keep the TV set to CBS between the two. Nope I just watched Andor and Tales of the Jedi instead.

What's going to fill that hour? As a Survivor fan I was really happy with the first two weeks and longer episodes for The Real Love Boat premiered. Always seemed like a weird show to put between Survivor and The Amazing Race.

TAR is filling in the RLB slot, and it seems like reruns are replacing TAR at 10pm.
My guess is Survivor 44 goes to 90 minutes full time, with the remaining 90 minutes going to TAR or Tough as Nails.

I know it seemed weird but this is a common tactic for networks. They hope that ratings from the successful shows that bookend its timeslot will spill over. I don't think that strategy works when the only thing the shows have in common is that they are reality TV.
Networks (and streamers) need to recognize that reality TV is a medium and that there are genres within that medium. In this case, Survivor and Amazing Race fall into the "Reality Competition" genre while The Real Love Boat falls into the "Reality Dating/Romance" genre.

Wonder why/how this show got Greenlit at all. The CBS Boomer audience was never gonna go for a trash reality show, and the GenX/Millenial/Zoomer viewers who do watch trash rtv have no attachment to a network show from 40 years ago.

Previously, they were handed the worldwide successful brand of Love Island. To me, that should be hard to screw up, but I'm guessing (like you said) that the audience for CBS is just much older. So it only lasted three seasons. My guess is The Real Love Boat was their attempt to develop their own brand along the same lines.
Peacock has the Love Island USA license now so hopefully it continues successfully over there (although I wish it were airing over the airwaves as well).

I do the closed captioning on this show, and I feel dumber each week after doing it.

Why on earth would Paramount want to buy it?
hookyboysb t1_iu7risd wrote
Paramount owns CBS. This is just them burning off what they already own.

It was a terrible show. I DVR'd the first couple of episodes just to see what it was like - I'm a big reality show fan so I always give new ones a chance -- but it was so cringy to watch.

This show was just a cruise ship commercial. . .

Wow, they actually did it. Real Love Boat’s ratings were pretty poor. They did horribly when compared to Survivor one hour before and it was dragging down Amazing Race at 10. I wonder what fills the 9 PM hour now?
