Wayans was always the weakest link of New Girl IMO. Compared the hilarious and career defining performances of Greenfield, Johnson, and Morris his seemed just okay. It makes sense that they cut him out for a while after the pilot tbh

New Girl didn't cut him; he shot the pilot before Happy Endings was renewed. When it was, New Girl chose not to recast the role and introduced Winston in the second episode to replace Coach. Wayans returned to New Girl when Happy Endings was cancelled.

It’s crazy how difficult it is to rank those three. I do appreciate the irony that a show with “Girl” in its title’s best characters are men though.
