Who do you feel judged by? What is the source of the guilt.
You you do whatever brings you happiness. Watching should be enjoyable. It’s not homework.
The absolute chore we've turned entertainment into is so freaking sad.
No clue. I guess the people who follow me there, and also the fact that I used to want to watch as many movies as possible to potentially be a film critic. But yes watching movies every day feels like homework, and when I watch tv shows I feel more lazy. It’s crazy I’m aware.
I think its highly debateable that movies are more prolific than TV now
Sounds like you’re not addicted to movies at all
I wouldn’t say crazy but it does seem unhealthy. I watch a ton of stuff but it’s for my own reasons.
Also there is plenty of really good tv shows out there that wouldn’t be a waste of time anyway.
But there is nothing wrong with just relaxing and watching something ‘mindless’ if you want.
Get rid of it, it’s giving you anxiety and making you miserable. Life is too short. Watch what you want without being judged.
Sure, you can watch a bunch of movies in the time it takes to watch a season of TV.
But you can watch like five episodes of tv per movie.
Pump those numbers, baybeeee.
^^^Do ^^^not ^^^do ^^^this
I have no advice...
But I love watching TV shows. Especially with streaming where a show has it's episode dropped same day. It's a long movie.
The main difference is tv shows usually have an ending and you may want more to the story. A lot of movies have open ending or even not a lot of story for the small bits.
I prefer tv. But, I do watch a lot of movies that also have documentaries. And if I watch a movie leaving me wanting more, I watch another movie that's similar in theme and context. Like true crime thrillers, horror thrillers ya know. I also sometimes will just go back to a comfort show.
Delete your bookmark for letterboxd, social media is supposed to be a tool and not something that dictates your life. That feeling of obligation you have for it is all in your mind and the other users you are worried about really don't care one way or the other what you watch.
Stop caring about what other people think about your entertainment choices.
You've turned a relaxing pastime into work. Take some time away from social media and try to remember what you used to enjoy about movies and TV before you started trying to turn watching them into a job.
It sounds like logging the films on Letterboxd makes watching movies feel productive, so you feel less guilty spending time watching them because it's almost like checking an item off your To Do list. There's an app called TV Tracker I use to keep track of what episodes I'm on, when shows come back, etc. Maybe using that and logging shows will give you the same rush as logging on Letterboxd.
Either way it sounds like you already enjoy watching tv and just need to let yourself relax and watch what you want. :)
sounds more like an addiction to socials than movies, since you can't focus on watching them because, I surmise, you're more worried about what online people are doing. Try starting with a little digital detox; it's hard but doable
This is really simple, my dude: Quit letterboxd.
Film criticism isn't about volume it is about understanding and insight.
> feel like I can never keep up
Don't.
Don't give a shit what other people do. Just enjoy the things you want to enjoy. You'll be happier. Comparing yourself constantly is one way to be very unhappy all the time.

Can't believe someone has to say this ....
But..
Stop using letterboxd for a while since at this point you are just competing to have higher score in movies than actually enjoying them.
Watch the shows you want to watch, no on gonna look down on you for it :)
