I watched most of season 1 at the recommendation of almost everyone I know, and I just don't get it... how do people say this show is "a unique tour de force" and "gripping"?? To me, so far, it's a slow, boring western that borders on trauma porn and there just doesn't seem to be a point to it. Obviously the acting and characters are top tier, but the writing and plot are just flat.
I wanted to watch it because I've heard 1883 and 1923 are excellent, but I'm wondering if I actually need to watch Yellowstone first or not... or does it get better in the later seasons? It jsut feels like there's absolutely nothing unique about it... someone described it as Sons of Anarchy with horses and that has really stuck for me, and not in a good way.
