All I wanted was something to eat at 1am.
I’ve been trying to lose weight, so I skipped dinner. I just wanted a small bite coz I’ve stayed awake pretty late.
Now I just saw this short recipe of an egg sandwich on Tik-Tok. I am being 100% honest. I am NOT a bad cook. I can cook a lot of different recipes easily, I’ve been cooking since I was 12. (am 21) I can cook recipes like curries, steak, pasta, tacos, basically anything, as long as they aren’t too complicated or isn’t on a professional level.
So what does this recipe show? Chopping some onions first. What do I do? I take out 3 onions and I chop them. Took me a bit of time since I cut myself pretty badly earlier in the year so I try to do chopping as slowly as I can (safety’s sake)
Now. I live in a topical country. So lizards are pretty common. Yesterday, there was one running around in the kitchen. The protocol is pretty simple. Everything is concealed. So there’s no open foods for lizards to go around and eat or whatever. So that’s fine, right? Just hours ago, I went into my room. My dad probably sprayed some pesticide (the lizard ones) to deter it from coming near the section where my utensils are.
So when I took the pan. I never realised that the smell kinda lingers. I turned on the stove, cooked the onions and then smelt the really weird pesticide smell.
Now. I’m pretty sure I am safe, and I could have continued cooking with no problem, but I decided to stop cooking. And throw away all the onions, because the smell seemed to linger near the pan/stove.
So that’s that. I wasted 20 mins and 3 whole onions. Thank god I didn’t crack the eggs up at the very least. What do I eat in the end? I clean up, and then put 2 slices of cheese on bread and eat it. Not even toasted. I give up.
TLDR: Had a lizard around my house. Dad sprayed pesticide. Smell was lingering. After I chopped 3 whole onions to make my egg sandwhich, I ended up throwing them away out of fear of the pesticide smell being so near the pan/stove. Ate plain bread and cheese, not toasted.

3 onions for a single sandwich?
That wasn't an egg sandwich. That was an onion sandwich with an egg garnish.
