How do the barriers know to let other animals through, though??

Animals don’t need to get through the tunnel I’m not sure why you’d need or want them to. The animals existed before the tunnel was built and they certainly don’t need the tunnel to continue. I can’t see any reason for needing to let any animals through.

Correct, sounds like a cousin of rabies is available in the UK lol

We shot all the feral dogs. Bats do have rabies but are super rare.

at least in the us (and its probably safe to be sorry) if bats are found in your house the CDC is quick to get you scheduled for a rabies vaccination

Fuck rabies

If I ever got infected and symptoms set in, I would blow my head off so fucking fast.

Rabies, once symptoms develop, is 100% fatal. You can't drink, you can't eat, you can't even swallow your own saliva that your mouth constantly makes. You spasm, and sweat, and go nuts.

If you get infected, and you are given treatment in the form of a vaccine before you develop any symptoms, you will be fine. But once any symptoms arrive, you're going to die a slow uncomfortable death.

Fuck. Rabies.

Rabies has always been one of my biggest fears because it's just so horrible all around.

Then I won't link to the video that scared the shit out of me.

It was a medical film documenting an outbreak in Iran. From the look of the quality and the voice over, it looked to be quite old. And then, to add insult to infection, whoever put the damn thing up on the internet laid in some creepy background music.

Your fear is well deserved.

Oh, I've seen the clinical videos of patients succumbing to it and it looked every bit as bad as I imagined it would be. The fact that a virus like that exists is just horribly disturbing.

A vaccine you say? I have an immune system, thank you very much. I‘m not injecting myself with that poison!

Japan is no different, with no rabies outbreaks in nearly 50 years, widespread use of vaccines, and strict immigration controls regarding pets.

Rabies kills a significant percentage of those bitten. Also, once it spreads, it takes a very long time to suppress.

Yup. Body essentially works time same, just now you're hyper aggressive and willing to eat anything.

bolanrox t1_j6ovlua wrote

do they eat? i thought the whole thing was they would die of starvation. Though dehydration would get them way faster come to think of it.

2

Gonergonegone t1_j6ow2wa wrote

You're right it would in reality.

3

bolanrox t1_j6owbm8 wrote

the main point of the first one was to wait it out until they all starved. so i guess they overlooked 3ish days to die of dehydration verses say 3ish weeks / months
