Looking for an outoor skating spot to go to for breaks at work. Does anyone skate on Lake Dunmore? I'm not about to go out and try to skate anywhere that may be dangerous. I really wish the Bristol rink was open!

Always smart to be thinking about safety when it comes to ice skating on lakes, ponds, and rivers.

With a high today of 20 degrees in Middlebury, I’m pretty sure lakes and ponds would be solid and thick. River currents can be a problem. Lake Champlain freezes more slowly but Dunmore. Not sure why you are concerned.

The bigger obstacle might be too much snow. Do they plow/clear it?

On my local lake I wait for the ice fisherfolk to go out and auger some holes. They mess up the ice but theyre the best certainty around.

Was just at Dunmore yesterday. That’s a no go. Proctor is a little far but worth the trip. Not sure on vergennes. (I believe that have strange hours)

Be careful on the open ice friends. I don't believe it's that safe this year. Maybe this weekend. I might be over cautious but for me it's better than trying to be Wim Hof with heavy close on. Peace ✌️

Thanks for the pointers guys! I will always err on the side of caution when it comes to any water more than waist deep. Its just not worth the risk.

I went up to vergennes to skate a bit today. Nice little setup there, even if the hours are a bit weird. Although it makes sense they are only open after school let's out. I heard that they use the ice for gym class.

Does it have to be outside? The rink in Middlebury has public skate times
