Would like to see more housing in walkable zones but also require developers to build something charming, not ugly.

apartment buildings can be charming too with a little extra effort.

Yes. There are old apartment buildings in my town that are attractive 100 years after they were built.

From the outside maybe. Those are likely just the sort of dumpy Vermont rentals that would be crackhouses in most states but are considered acceptable housing here.
