Wow that's weird, I've never seen Canadian cars being screened for that long, and usually the Alburgh crossing is dead unless it's a major holiday. But in your situation, I would've just gone to the 133/89 crossing at that point, would've been much faster, (it definitely wouldn't have taken 1.5 hours for 12 cars to go through.) Unless it's a holiday, I've never waited longer than 30 minutes there, and I'm not even American.

Yeah, part of the issues was it was our first time to Canada in a long time so we kind of wondered if this was normal. In reality the wait had became a sunk cost, but so hard to think that way in the moment. Also we were in an EV, so taking alternative routes become even more limited! Thanks for the suggestions though, will do next time.
