You might want to ask the nova subreddit as more will have experience with the question.
But keep is my vote. We have like 6 months of usable weather for it here.
Its 4 without a heater.
Water gets coooold. April no september no.
Tooshe.
I think you mean touché.
It's a joke from The Great. But, yes.
Aah, sorry about that, I've never seen The Great.
ask r/nova and figure out for yourself if like pools
Making the same decision in md. Current plan is to set aside the money for removal and use the pool all summer. Then based on costs, effort, usage, and safety, we'll make the final call on removal. If we keep it, probably put the funds away long term as a separate major pool repair/removal option.
Definitely look at the quality it's in. You have a great visual metric at the moment, which is looking how the owners winterized it. Is it a normal bubble pool cover or something even jankier? That's less likely to be a well maintained pool. Is it the (frequently green), canvas-like special winter cover that gets screwed into the ground? Thats a sign they're actually taking care of it. It's not definitive, but I worked at pools and on pools and the effort put into winterizing was usually pretty indicative of management/ownership.
Are you offering to invite me over if you keep it?
Depends on how old/lifespan of the pool. Do you value having a pool? They'll add to your home owners insurance as well as the cost of maintenance. Are you ok with those costs?
Pools can be a ton of fun in the warmer months and if you like to host parties, having a pool is a nice bonus. Some of the best summer days for me are spent poolside with friends.
If the pool is in good shape and you'll enjoy it - leave it. If it needs a lot of work and you don't want the long-term costs & maintenance, fill it in.
How do you vacay?
Do you hang by a pool at a nice resort? Keep it. You’ll do that every available weekend in summer.
Figure out if it’s been maintained well, if code requires a fence (and if you have to pay for that fence) and if you would be paying extra in your home owners insurance if you keep it. Also consider how much you would actually use it.
What condition is the pool in?
I just looked at a place that filled it in and built deck over it, looked good
Call a pool service and get a quote for maintenance. I’ve been told it can cost $10-20k/year. I have no idea how manageable that is to do yourself or why it’s that much. But that sounds like a lot of money on top of higher home insurance and the anxiety you may have if you have kids around the pool. Personally that wouldn’t be worth it to me.
idk do you want a pool?
