Cleveland Park/Van Ness area. You'd be close to Rock Creek Park, which has endless possibilities for walking.

You'd ride the Red Line to Farragutt North, about 15 minutes.

Adding to this - cathedral heights, McLean gardens and glover park. Can take red line or bus to downtown.

My immediate thought here is Adams Morgan. It's certainly walkable (two grocery stores in the neighborhood, lots of restaurants, bars and shops, etc.) and has Walter Pierce Park (which includes a dog park), Kalorama Park, and is close to Meridian Hill Park. It's also tree-lined and leafy on most of the residential streets. Plus, the 42/43 bus line runs right along Columbia Road (which cuts through Adams Morgan) and goes directly to Farragut Square — probably about 20 minutes or so of commute time.

How many beds/baths are you looking for?

2 bedrooms, no preference on the baths - just need to keep it under $3000.

Eastern Market is a great area for young families. You will find lots of couples with dogs, access to parks and green space, and the farmers market is a great attraction as well. The only problem may be your budget but there should be smaller rowhomes for rent that go around $30000 (maybe $3,200 at the higher end). There is also direct access to Farragut West on the orange/blue/silver lines.

Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, or Dupont.

Had two active dogs and lived many places in the city, also love our green spaces, I'd suggesting looking for places around:

  • Meridian Hill park (it's large as far as parks go, and this is the most dog friendly area I've ever lived in)
  • Rock Creek park (it's massive so prioritize being near an entrance or other landmark within it)

I moved near Lincoln Park when I was in my 30s and have been in the neighborhood for 25 years now. The park itself always has tons of dogs, and you can walk to one of several nearby Metro stations. Yarmouth Realty has several places that fit your budget in the neighborhood.

I’d recommend Adams Morgan/Georgetown/Capitol Hill if you want the high end city life with green spaces. If you can deal with less density and hipness, try Takoma or Cleveland Park.

NOMA and Navy Yard have the best selection and pricing for new apartments if you’re into that.

Stock in the older areas is more expensive and tends to be dated, but they have more green spaces for dogs.

NoMa might fit your needs. There's a ton of dog parks and parks. It's also on the red line. Maybe a 20 min commute to Farragut by metro, less by bicycle. It's mostly large apartment complexes.
