Because kicking any country out of NATO goes against the spirit of collective defense. Why defend anyone when it's politically inconvenient if you could just kick them out?

You can’t achieve collective defense if one link is ally with the enemy. Then it is a security issue for the rest of the defensive alliance, and should be removed.

I was wondering how they got IN in the first place
Kicking them out would be a very slow process if not outright impossible

It's even worse they got into EU..

In 2004, 6 years before before Orban. Orban is the re-elected autocrat who is hellbent on stripping the country of any and all democratic values. (But still have "elections")
Not saying they were peachy before, but then again, who is.

Orban won’t live forever, but I can’t stand to see these fascist fucks. Orban wasn’t in power when they were added to either the EU or NATO.

Yeah back then the country wasn't that bad, but again, even his supporters don't agree with him. He is literally a dictator in the sense that he doesn't do what the people want, he doesn't ask, just dors whatever he wants... I hope we can get him up on a lamppost soon

Because country's stance and goal change with time and circumstance?

they were pretty pro Russia even back when they joined

I just checked that Hungary joined NATO in 1999 and EU in 2003. Do you think Russia in 1999 the same as Russia 2014 or even 2008? And do you think that the relationship between Russia and NATO was the same as it is now. Nevertheless, is there any requirement that said "must be Russophobic" (since you use "pro-Russia" I think russophobic is the right word to use here) to join?
Nekommando t1_ixhzz1a wrote
not necessarily Russophobic, at least not to the likes of Poland/Czech/Lithuania/ etc

We needed somewhere closer to Russia to place Nukes, basically.

The government was more decent before Orban was elected.

Sort of like everything Hungary has done under Orban?
