In fact, doing so would greatly strengthen China on the diplomatic stage since the US just pissed off almost every1 due to. The Hardest hit would be the pooerer countries like in Africa and Latin America which are also the countries China is trying to woo.

The current opposition (Republicans) would pounce on this claiming the Dems basically destroyed tons of Jobs, starved a ton of poor countries, and raised the Trade Deficit.
