I am pretty sure your FIL will have to get the title assigned to him and then he will transfer the car to you. BUT he can possibly do this by giving you a power of attorney to deal with this issue.

You may have to send some documents back and forth so they can be notarized but it can be done. I am sure you will need a death certificate for your MIL.

This is worth a modest legal fee to get it done right, if for no other reason than to get it out of your driveway.

Cotton or cotton blend khakis are much more comfortable than jeans in the summer.

I always got them from Gap or Old Navy and they would last maybe 5 years.

I have been pleased with every Whirlpool appliance I have ever owned, including washers and dryers. I don't have the Cabrio version, not sure they even make that line anymore.

Look at Roper, also made by Whirlpool. A slightly more budget line.

Whirlpool also makes Maytag now.

I was not aware of that. But Ameritrade is going to require some kind of legal document to handle it. It's possible there are no contingent beneficiaries and the will leaves everything to the person who was originally the beneficiary, and then the beneficiary will have to disclaim part of the estate. Seems a convoluted process for no real reason.

OP needs to get the facts about taxes on this account, which he seems to think must be paid in one year.

Exactly.

If your mother is named beneficiary nothing else matters. You went about this in the wrong way. Only your grandfather could have changed the beneficiary on his account.

The money will be moved to your mother's beneficiary account nowhere else. She has up to 10 years to withdraw all of it.

If you keep them in a safe or lockbox make sure your executor and at least 2 other people know where the combination and keys are. Make duplicate keys and spread them around to different people.

My ex forgot the combination to his gun safe and it was just a fluke that someone else had written it down.

Can you get enough out of the 350Z to pay off the loan?

At least with a new loan you could get a better interest rate. And also look for something inexpensive. You don't need a truck. You need practical wheels to get from point A to point B. Look for a small 4 door car.

Someone will have to file with probate court in his county of residence, to be appointed administrator of the estate. Then that person is responsible for paying any bills out of the assets of the estate, if there are any. The rest of the estate has to be disbursed according to the laws of the estate where he lived.

Now in reality, if he has basically no money, his roommate will probably give his stuff to whoever shows up.

You can call the investigator and get the address, or maybe contact info for someone local.
