maaaaybe helps soften the blow but... the brain floats inside the skull, if smack your head hard enough for your brain to contact the inside of your skull it's technically a concussion and you've technically caused some amount of damage to the soft squishy tissue. adding extra blood or packing peanuts for that matter will prevent damage entirely. fun fact: the flash of light you see when you hit your head is actually bc your occipital lobe in the BACK of your brain got slapped on the ricochet
