If it's a cold war, then yes. Which is what I'm hoping for.

I believe this is the single biggest threat to progress. The singularity is inevitable, unless a nuclear war happens beforehand.
That being said, i do believe that AI is advancing at a rate so rapidly that the window of opportunity for nuclear war to destroy civilization is very small. So basically if no nuclear war happens in the next 10 years, I don't believe the singularity will be at risk any longer.

I strongly believe agi will happen, but I don't believe it will ever be sentient. Why? I believe sentience is divine

5 years ago, AI systems weren't even the tiniest bit close to what we have now. Don't underestimate the power of exponential growth

I created basically the same poll a few months ago, but the moderators removed it because it was "too similar to the yearly 'when will the singularity happen'" thread.
Please up-vote this comment (and the post), to send a message to the moderators not to delete this post either.
The poll adds valuable information on how the general consensus changes over time

Well, most humans hate their jobs. So honestly I don't think we need to worry so much. If you don't work in the industry, you'll be "working" socially. Meaning, you take care of your kids, your parents, seeing friends, pick up hobbies, travel, etc. There's still tons of "jobs" to occupy humans with, just not paying jobs. But in an infinite economy, UBI should help take care of that.
