Your dad was robbed at gunpoint. Sounds like you're from Baltimore to me. Put on Tom Waits' "Down in a hole", eat a crab cake, and tell people to piss off if they give you grief.

Dixon, Blake, Pugh, Scott...50% of these went to jail for crimes committed. Our last SA is being federally indicted.. Her husband who is also a criminal is still on the City Council.

Maybe we should be focusing less on recall elections and more on why people want recall elections. How about our politicians stop being lying criminal pieces of shit for at least a few elections cycles before saying "Hey, you shouldn't have the power to kick us out of office when we are lying criminal pieces of shit."

That Casino Royale scene really sets the tone for the entire movie. Sebastien is doing hardcore flips and shit to get around obstacles and Bond is literally just running through walls, driving forklifts through buildings, etc to get to him.

It just slathers on the screen "This version of Bond is a force of nature. He will come at you and plow through anything in his way to get to you."

Only problem with this thinking is that consumption has nothing to do with the cost of our water bills. The vast majority of the bill is taxes/fees/etc.

You could use no water all month and your bill would still be the same compared to your normal usage due to this. In no way does our high water cost disincentive water usage because the majority of the cost has nothing to do with the usage but rather the fees to upkeep the large, wildly mismanaged/neglected, water system we have in the city.

Baltimore City jury duty tips.

  1. Keep your paperwork even after you are done jury duty. They will probably try to make you come back before they are allowed to call you back and you'll need this paperwork to shut that down.
  2. Delay for as long as possible. Keep calling them and have them reschedule it. The longer you can push it out, the longer you can extend the window which they can call you back.

Are you unemployed? Cause missing out on 8 hours of work to "get paid" 15 dollars (Which doesn't even cover parking) isn't my idea of a good time.

I have no data on any of this but it feels better and I seem to be seeing less accidents as of late. Logically it makes sense too, if you could go 90mph from exit 10 all the way to the city your average speed is 90mph. BUT, if you have to slow down to 50mph every couple of miles it lowers your average speed while also clumping cars together making it difficult to get back up to extreme speeds.

My first thought was that by making it more difficult to enter the city you don't actually encourage people to move to the city but rather to get a remote work job so they never have to go to the city again. Which in turn speeds up the decay of the city by killing restaurants and all the other businesses these people used to go to.

Like you said, we're already seeing large cities lose population as people get "work from home" jobs and move to less dense areas.

Overall I don't think people are not living in cities because there aren't enough green spaces. I'd assume that if you polled people on why they don't want to live in Baltimore the top reasons would be taxes and crime with green spaces not even breaking the top 5.

My mistake.

https://www.wbaltv.com/article/marilyn-mosby-indicted-baltimore/36901609

"Mosby claimed to have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to withdraw from the city's Deferred Compensation Plan on two separate occasions, receiving $40,000 and $50,000.

But documents show she continued to receive her full salary during the pandemic, which was a gross salary in 2020 of $247,955.58 and it was never reduced: "Rather than experiencing a reduction in income in 2020, Mosby's gross salary in 2020 increased over her gross salary in 2019, which was $238,772.04," the indictment states."

She did some perjury as well as lying about taxes, etc to get money from her retirement account early*. She then used this money to buy housing in Florida and was later caught lying so she is being federally indicted.

After that, she lost re-lection (Finished third in a three man race). Before she was forced out of office, she was given a victory tour by her husband in the city council to celebrate her "outstanding service."

She is now preparing for her trial which has been delayed several times. Her entire legal team is trying to get out of the trial with the main lawyer saying he will not be able to defend her since he has to defend himself as well. The prosecution team is agitated and working to force them all to stay on her team so the trial can go forward on the scheduled time.

Edit: I missed the most recent news. Judge allowed her entire team to bail due to conflict of interest. This article gives a much more detailed timeline than my post, you should read that.

Edit 2: Wasn't COVID bailout money, she just used COVID as an excuse to get other money.

Good start for Bates. Showing a clear distinction between him and Mosby. He's not going to go after frivolous lawsuits against the police and focus on actual abuses of power and hopefully real violent criminals.

I know we have all been burned in the past with politician promises but I am really rooting for Bates to turn this ship around.

Never been to Seattle but I went to Portland last year. I was super excited to go cause all I ever hear about is how hip and cool the place is. Arrive there and it's an absolute shit hole. Tent cities everywhere, trash, filth, etc. I looked at my wife and was like "Well, at least Baltimore isn't the worst place to live in America."
