"In private" in the sense "outside of their TV and press including it in their message". Those of us who live outside the Chinese and Russian infobubbles know.

You mean following NATO's shock-and-awe conventional retaliation? They are not that dumb.
Putin is not going to use a tactical nuke because (a) Modi and Xi told him in private that's their red line and they won't support him if he does, (b) see above -- loss of Black Sea fleet at minimum, (c) a decapitation strike against him is then on the table.

You need three people acting unison to fire a strategic nuke, Putin being only one of them. These people have families, properties and lives they don't want to lose.

Some do, some don't. There's a pretty recent well-known virus that doesn't have DNA. Something with a corona in the name. The corresponding disease is COVID-19.

Reply to How is protein folding quantum mechanical? by prionprion
The structure of the protein is dictated by what the valence electrons do. Electrons are too light to be treated classically - their de Broglie wavelength is about 0.1nm. That means you need quantum mechanics to figure out what they're going to do (electronic structure).

I certainly agree that there are much better ways. I just didn't think water consumption would be the smoking gun.

No one thought that ever. Oil was produced from marine organisms, not dinosaurs, about 300M years ago, which was about 70M years before the first dinosaurs.

Reply to comment by WinBarr86 in ELI5- what is the difference between a liquid and a fluid? by stinkybuttttt
Physicist here. Amorphous doesn't mean it changes. Amorphous means "it has no long-range order". As opposed to crystalline solids, where this longe-range translational symmetry is present.
Glass is an amorphous solid. It's not a liquid. It has a structure somewhat similar to a liquid, but calling it "a liquid which doesn't flow" is like calling a tank "an aeroplane that doesn't fly".
