Never heard it called the greenway, but the bike path is snow free from oakledge to colchester. Not sure about the causeway, but assume it's clear as well since there's less shade out there

Grew up in a town with a strong town meeting tradition (to this day) and unfortunately moved out. There really is nothing like it.

Always thought the state should push to shut all business that day so everyone could attend, but wasn't meant to be. Seems like they've promoted it less and less.

There is no substitute for face to face, neighbor to neighbor communication about local issues. Doesn't matter if you're 5 gen woodchuck or moved from the flatlands last year. It's a great way to get involved with your community

Hate to see it slowly disappear

The STR owners shot themselves in the foot on this one. They had a good thing going and then they got greedy.

We booked a small house near Barre for a family reunion in 2019 for a reasonable price, low fees, few rules. Clean, but nothing special. Full of old junk (not antique) furniture and bedding. Tried to book the same one last summer and the nightly fee had triple, cleaning fee added, water(?) fee added, internet fee added, pet fee added and there was a todo list a mile long.

Agree altho this varies by town. Some towns will maintain to the last full time residence on a class 4 and some don't. It depends on how the road maintenance is addressed in the town plan or zoning regs.

Neighbor calls the state police repeatedly on my grandfathers farm for manure spreading. Not even liquid, OG bedded pack type stuff. Now he saves it all for the spring/summer/fall holiday weekends

Worst part is that for a little while, you could actually get local breaking news on their website and TWTR feed. Like if you heard sirens and saw firetrucks heading out, you could find out what was happening within a few minutes but no more. WCAX and WPTZ have just about given up as well.

Local doesn't bring in the ad revenue so they just borked the whole thing

It really does depends on the road and how well it drains.

Class 3 road from the south going into camp in the NEK is 8 miles of dirt and fine thru mud season. Town spent big re-laying the base. Class 3 road to the east is 3 miles of dirt and I pulled a truck out buried to the frame rails a few years ago. It's on the list of roads to fix

Hardest part of using an older vehicle for winter is the state inspection. Minor wear and tear accumulates and depending on the inspections station, you could be in for a hefty bill to pass.

On top of that some older vehicles were built to looser specs so brand new ball joints and leaf spring bushings have too much play for some inspections stations to clear you.

I had an old beater toyota pickup with high miles that ran great and had little rust. An older station would pass me no problem, but the new owners were not accustomed to older vehicles and wouldn't pass me.

Or just run without a sticker
