I think you're lacking some historical context. Fakes, forgeries, and imposters have always been a fact of life and human culture. They always have, and always will evolve with technology. I expect they will be easier to detect in the future than they were in the past.

Those actually aren't the same photo. If you look closely, you can tell by all the differences.

Green energy technology takes a high degree of technology to maintain. The big difference in my mind is that it would fail gradually rather than all at once. Of course, something like EMP attacks would still make it very immediate.

Reply to Do you look at page numbers when you’re purchasing a book to justify the price? by aprilhillwriting
Since switching to audio years back, I absolutely look at book length as a data point when considering a purchase. Anything under ~20 hours gets additional scrutiny if I'm considering spending an Audible credit. I often wait for those to go on sale rather than using a credit, but not always.

Digital media has really changed the landscape quite a bit, and books in general aren't as popular as they once were due to lots of new competition in media and entertainment that are so accessible at everyone's fingertips today. I would say that Harry Potter is the last book series to have the kind of impact that it did, but there are lot of others as you go further back.
A Tale of Two Cities is probably the most impactful book I can think of off hand, if we are talking about widespread popularity and staying-power.

I saw The Grateful Dead at the last show they ever played in St Louis (3rd to last show ever) and I'm told I had an amazing time at the show, and for several days after.

Frequently yes, but I don't generally see it as a problem. I choose to take the view that I'm going to get a lot more out of a re-watch.

In my view the content quality justifies that, but the quantity not so much. I'm look forward to the next seasons of Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, and Severance, as I really enjoyed all three, but those are the only shows that I've really enjoyed on Apple TV+.
I'll probably check out the second season of Foundation eventually, but season 1 didn't grab me enough that I'm really looking forward to it, and it wouldn't be a factor in a subscription decision at this point.

Reply to Will The Expanse ever get the last 3 seasons to finish out the last 3 books? by MajorRichardHead7
There is a time-jump of like 20 years or so between books 6 & 7, then books 7, 8, and 9 all tie closely together as a final trilogy. Amazon has called season 6 the final season, but they also included a bunch of stuff from Laconia which didn't even appear in the main book series (it's from one of the Novellas), which in my mind only makes sense to include if we are going to get the final trilogy at some point.
I'm kind of expecting that it will go dark, maybe for years, and then eventually someone brings back what they can of the original cast, somewhat aged, to finish out the series in some form.
6-seasons and a movie anyone?

Meh. As much as I would love to have the authors finish both series, I don't regret reading (and re-reading) them. They are both among my all-time favorites, endings or no. They certainly aren't going to turn me off to series still in progress.
