Which part? There was an insane amount of disinformation and astroturfing targeting AA to not get the COVID vaccine. Regular media was supporting this with the constant articles about how the skepticism was justified because of Tuskegee and that the white people that were avoiding the vaccine were dumb and doing it because of Trump and conspiracy theories.

I was amazed that the excuse kept coming up with every new wave and was then followed by data about how they were the least vaccinated group, but the conclusion was racism and not having access, which held no water after a couple months.

Soft bigotry of low expectations makes it impossible to counter the disinformation effectively.

I am a huge Star Trek nerd and Paramount+ should be an easy sell for someone like me. Old episodes from TNG and DS9 were my most watched on Netflix. Wonderful background noise for me while I do other things.

Commercials. Everywhere. Even on the supposed premium ad-free plan.

Nothing more infuriating than watching a 30 year old show with god damn commercial breaks that feature everything you hated about Network TV.

Shows audio balance forces you to turn the volume up. Commercial break plays and they are unbelievably loud. So now I have to be on top of when the commercial break is going to hit so my speaker doesn't pop and I don't wake up the neighbors and my girlfriend.

If you pause during the commercial because you are about to go deaf and can't see straight anymore because the general wants to sell my car insurance, it fucks up most of the time and I have to restart the whole fuckin show, fast forward, and sit through that commercial shit again.

You pause the fuckin show to read something on screen. THEY OVERLAY ANOTHER AD.

This is the only service I don't use out of principle. I was one of the people defending Picard online for the last two seasons. Watched each episode on premiere night. Not signing up for Season 3 and it has nothing to do with their content, everything to do with the fact that I feel like I'm being bent over and told to fuck myself in every way they could find because they think their customers are just here to be fucked and won't go anywhere.

> Back on to the topic of racism - you've specifically used that word to describe the humor of the show, so you agree it's based around the idea of mocking, humiliating, and shaming someone for their skin color. You'd have to go pretty far back to find a show where the main characters are gleefully mocking someone's race, and expecting the audience to agree and laugh with them. Why is that suddenly acceptable in 2023?

The last wide broadcast show to do that was Amos and Andy, which was essentially a minstrel show. You can make a good argument that Velma is a modern day version of a minstrel show with how it mocks physical and cultural traits - by people that aren’t that race/sexuality - in the meanest manner of mockery possible - all for laughs.

It’s going over as well as a modern remake of a minstrel show, so that’s ok I guess.
