Hell most of the time pedestrians in NYC don't even look before they cross let alone look for a sign. I kind of miss living in the city, NJ does not have a walking culture which is pretty sad.

I go to Baltimore, MD from Newark once a month. It's pretty easy, one train and takes about 3 hours. Wilmington, DE is on the way. I would suggest getting 1st class tickets, it's much nicer. The train is reliable and has priority over NJ Transit, etc on the tracks (they share the same track lines).

I completely understand this. Last fall we were doing the same thing, owned a townhouse in Nutley and wanted to move to Livingston. Found a place but, during attorney review someone came and blew our offer away. We found another place in Verona, but the inspection came back with too many issues. Ended up going to Wayne, got outbid on one place, made an offer on another, but the buyer of the higher offer on the first place backed out and we ended up increasing our offer to get it.

It's a tough, weird market. Emotionally don't get attached to any one place, and keep looking and making offers even when you've currently made an offer or two.

There's very little chance home prices will drop outside of a hard recession. The proximity to NYC and Philly collectively allow for higher prices because of good, steady job markets. Waiting for a recession for prices to drop may or may not work out, people have been predicting a recession for a year now and we still aren't there.

Oh man, I see this happening to me. I was actually commuting into the city until the pandemic and then was assigned to remote work in NJ last spring. They've already gotten taxes from me that I shouldn't have paid since I haven't worked in NY since 2020.

You should call and check. I mailed mine in December and it was "lost" I called several times and eventually mailed it certified in late January. Called several times again and they finally found it. I then had to call again to have an online profile set up so I could check the status online. Gotta love the government!

I saw someone do a hard stop with 6 inches of snow on their roof, the snow fell down on their windshield and they couldn't see. Luckily this happened in a local road (30 mph speed limit), had it been on a highway it would have been an immediate accident.
