Why are you talking about the Northern Lights? Are people in the Northern Hemisphere just pathologically incapable of thinking about the other half of the Earth.

Jesus, that makes the rest of your life sound kinda bleak music-wise.

It's not the Hawaiians, it's the Americans as a whole. They're lied to incessantly so it's not their fault or anything, but oneupsmanship is the national sport over there.

Latitude is the biggest determinant of climate, and Australia spans about 2,250 miles of latitude. Hence, varied climate.
My state alone has more forested land than any US state, but I don't think any of it would remind you of home.

Might ring true for the sorts of people who stop trying to discover new music. The sorts of people who subscribe to r/Music, whine about modern rap, and think that Pink Floyd is the only artist in the genre of prog rock.

This is how I've been listening to music most of the time for the last six years, although I haven't had the time for it in 2022.

Frames by Oceansize. It's my favourite because it is much better than any other album ever made by anyone ever.
After trying and failing to capture some commercial success with their previous record, they wrote 8 songs whilst giving 0 fucks and it turned out to be an effortless masterpiece of totally unique music.

Oceansize - Music for a Nurse. Anything but generic, and Mike Vennart has always been a very clever lyricist. As the best band ever to have existed, their whole discography is worth hearing.
The Contortionist - Clairvoyant. It's pretty explicitly about the songwriter's dead friend, but the themes of listlessness and survivor's guilt are conveyed expertly.
Caligula's Horse - Graves. The story is a little foggy if you haven't listened closely to the rest of the album, but there's a reason this song is widely hailed as one of the best metal (arguably prog rock but whatever) epics of the last decade.

Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West
Aesop Rock - The Impossible Kid
And of course the best album ever made, Oceansize - Frames

These are really good. I feel like you'd enjoy Ocean Wisdom's Chaos 93 and Fair to Midland's Fables from a Mayfly.

Weird title. The author is based in Kenya, so I'd say this is just a quirk of multilingualism rather than an artefact of ignorance.
For native English speakers, Malawi is considered part of East Africa.

Okay but this is a picture of the Southern lights. Southern.
