1826? Hell that's downright progressive compared to my city, where it was all over the press in the mid 80s when the uppity golf club allowed a Japanese professor play there one time. And they still don't permit Jewish members as far as I'm aware.

He's as known among physicists for his work as much as he is for the practical jokes he'd play on them.

Not much time. They must hatch and then immediately they're like "Ooo, it's a lady."

Feynman also had a great sense of humour. Pretty philosophical guy too from what I've read about him.

I mean, it's not terrible as advice goes. Just not very helpful when there's a time bomb in your steering wheel.

And yet the Nazis turned to IBM for their 'data prcessing' needs.
Side note: Many innovations born out of wartime necessity often become mainstream. See also: automatic transmission, 4 wheel drive, etc.

Reply to TIL Interstate 19 running between Tucson and Nogales is the only freeway in the US with distances labeled exclusively in kilometers. by captain_flak
Pretty simple. 0 Celsius is where water freezes, 100 C is where it boils. A kilometer is 1,000 meters, there are 100 centimeters to a meter, a thousand milliliters to a liter, etc. All divisions or multiples of 10, 100 or 1,000.
Unlike pints and quarts and bushels and pecks and drams and gallons and yards and furlongs and God knows what else with values all over the goshdarn place.

Oh fuck yes. But that golf club was run and peopled by the same rich old white men that either payed local politicians or were the local politicians. Who was ever gonna police that situation?
I only learned about all that when I caddied there as a youngster. For an entire week. Fuck that haven for racist pricks.
