I don't care as much about political strategy as I do about people's well-being and lives. I'd prefer they were goaded into staying home.

Stupid, or dangerous and destructive. Blocking traffic and pissing everyone off is one thing, so is getting rowdy at a protest, but hopefully these idiots keep their guns at home.

What strikes me about all this is the thought that jail and prison aren't the same thing. You can be arrested for a crime, let's say rape, that you didn't commit, and you may not get a trial for months if not years. They'll shove you in Rikers where you'll have to survive amongst gangs and bullies, you'll have to get money for commissary that other inmates will try to bargin or steal from you and meanwhile you won't be working and all your shit on the outside will fall apart because you got accused of a crime you didn't commit.
Under a cash-bail system those who had means to pay the bail got out to at least cover their lives, while those too poor just stayed inside that dungeon and fell apart.
It's no fucking wonder.

Is Washington also going to force the NYPD to do their jobs?

This place was garbage. It was small and oddly unorganized. I know it was supposed to be a paired down version of an IKEA, but it was a painful after-thought.

I don't know if that's true. The benefits won't manifest until much later, and be one of those foundational things later citizens might take for granted and assume can be cut.
Edit: It's like ripping out parts of a perfectly functioning engine because gas is too expensive to operate it...and because you don't know how it works.

I will say this. Free 3k saves me $1,400.00 a month and frees my wife and I up to work. I DO NOT NEED a tax cut. Tax me more - I'm still coming out ahead.

It's funny, but it's also a relief.
Edit: hopefully they continue to stay home and grumble on backwater social networks.
