Walked by a few hours ago and it’s still there. Someone also ran over a lamppost on the corner of Pacific and Grand. I’ve seen so much post crash debris on the ground the last few days, and watched an absolute degenerate prick nearly run over what looked like a 10ish year old child who was crossing on Jersey Ave by the hospital. Like enough is enough at this point.

Not the first first time an NAACP member has sold their soul to the highest bidder. Sad, but the reality is people like Fireman have been playing this game for a while. As a POC, it pisses me off, because when Black/brown kids inevitably get screwed over by Fireman, this Richard Smith guy will claim he was deceived.

There is nothing up on the website about the JC location, while the other three locations’ dates have been announced. They might be deciding if JC is worth the squeeze. The fact they are avoiding answering people’s questions on Insta suggests they are still figuring out if it’s a yes or no this year.

Oh give me a break. It would be fairly easy (in the context of the US anyway) to address some very recent past wrongs that account for a significant portion of the existing wealth inequities across racial lines. I’m talking about the GI Bill and other post-WWII policies that helped build the white middle class - at the exclusion of Black Americans (including Black war veterans…I mean, just vile behavior). Similar legislation is possible. What’s lacking is the will power because, you guessed it, this is still a very white supremacist society and a Black underclass is needed for its survival. So keep that we are the world BS to yourself. We aren’t buying it.

We don’t live in a new society. We live in the same old prejudice society where white people own the majority of wealth as a direct result of past wrongs. The only way forward is to address those wrongs, not just play nice at an individual level.

Like, I can’t imagine telling an old Jewish person, “not okay to be bigoted to Germans,” like it’s not fully justified dislike. Don’t want to be disliked? Don’t be an enslaving, lynching, redlining, segregationist piece of shit. People want to move on and have all be forgotten with no reconciliation. Meanwhile, basic idiots are having weddings on plantations with cotton bouquets. Not being bigoted to white people is not because it is not “deserved”. It just solves nothing and hate get us no where. But a white person telling POC it’s not okay to dislike them is laughable as f*ck.

I want this to happen, but I doubt it due to folks benefiting from the current system blocking any change. I hope the folks holding onto their liquor licenses and locking potential new restauranteurs out of the industry in NJ realize if and when a work around is figured out that makes your licenses worthless, there will be no sympathy from most of us. These Gen Zs seem to be very opposed with the Dumbo House, social club model, and I’m pretty sure that doesn’t require regular licensing. But keep being short sighted and greedy. Worked out for medallion taxi cab holders.

I live in the area not too far from the LSP light rail stop and it’s a really chill part of JC. I used to live in Flatbush too, and I would say, this part of Bergen is not that vibe at all. It’s more like Greenpoint had a baby with parts of Bedstuy. Just much less stuff going on, of course.

Also note, they said people often use them just for the design portion (which was quoted as $1200) and then take the designs to cheaper contractors. I think the only reason they told us that was because they are basically having to turn business away because they are still catching up from all the pandemic bookings.

I also moved from Bed Stuy not to far from the lofts. If you lived in the stuy the neighborhood won’t feel too “sketchy,” but there is honestly not much to do. We moved from a place not too far from the lofts to a new condo a little closer to LSP, around the corner from Harry’s Daughter and the few other places to go in that area. Its only a few blocks but makes the world of difference. That said, if you are renting, I would go for a less fancy place by Hamilton park. Much easier transition from BK.
