They’re hoping the state of modern science combined with their immense west will give them extended or even eternal life.

It’s an awesome concept and they look super cool. I personally don’t care for the hard candy center, but kids often like them and they’re fun.

You want the center to melt. It’s loose bits of candy going into the oven. During baking they melt and fill the gaps, becoming a single pool. This hardens, sticking to the dough and creating a solid, transparent window in the center of the cookie.

It’s a very cool look. Unfortunately I don’t love hard candies, so having that center keeps them from being a favorite.

You break up hard candy like Jolly Ranchers in the desired color and flavor. Put the pieces in the cut-out in the center and the candies melt while baking, then harden into what you see.

I’m not good enough about picking the perfect uncut watermelon that I also buy presliced. It saves money vs tossing fruit I dislike once I cut it.

I just added a hold for it at my library. I should get it in a few months.

I’ve read it multiple times. It’s heavy. I thought about it during early COVID since it is one of the only pandemic books I’ve read. I recognizedit would be a hard read and decided against rereading during COVID. Great book. Heavy book.
