yep, they are expert marketers.

you may have data that doesn't bode well for a bottom line but if you can tell a story with that data and frame it in a certain light then you can completely change perception of that very same data

whenever I look at a report/article with data, I generally like to jump into the data first to interpret before I read the narrative. my takeaways are sometimes drastically different. but pulling up alternative sources reporting on the same data is helpful to figure out what is what.

You don't need to apologize for anything. I enjoy a quarter pounder every once in a while and don't beat myself up over it.

I just think if I planned a big adventure like this to see a ton of neighborhoods around the island and wanted to share it on Reddit I likely would have also planned out local stops for food, sights, etc.

When I saw a food section I figured you were going to highlight local options along the way. But then after reading that it just seemed like unnecessary details for the purpose of this post.

I absolutely lost it when I read you got a breakfast sandwich at Starbucks.

You wanted to explore Manhattan and see different neighborhoods so you walked around the whole island. But then you stopped at a national chain for food?!

Please shop locally where you can! There was probably a deli or restaurant nearby that would have had bomb food.

I had that happen and turned out the person accepted only to try and sell the tickets I gave away for free.

The show had already started and I was unable to sell the ticket even days in advance. So no idea why they thought they'd be able to offload it for triple the price. But 🤷

Stand on that corner and just do a slow spin while looking at the skyline nearby

I understand where you are coming from as a long term HK resident but it's happening and isn't surprising unfortunately.

Remember when they straight up let that real estate company just lift a historical theater so they could still build a tower over it and just incorporate the "preserved" parts in to the new design?

The only thing we can hope for is that they actually reform what it means to be affordable housing and actually ensure displaced locals and those in need get first priority.
