There are greenway trails all over town that are wonderful to walk on. Neighborhood walks are also nice. My next door neighbors are 10-15 years older than you and they walk their dogs all over our neighborhood. If you like more hip kinda place, a nice neighborhood to walk around is the Rountree neighborhood. Has a brewery, a couple bars, a coffee shop, tacos, ramen, pizza, etc.

I don’t find Springfield dangerous and I walk or bike most places. Well, other than cars. Be aware when you’re walking of them, even if you have the right of way, make sure they are stopping. Being right doesn’t mean shit if you’re dead. There are homeless, but I’ve never had a bad experience with them here. I’m pretty approachable though so my interactions have always been from people who seem lonely and maybe don’t get looked at in the face by most people.

We have a few farmers markets that are awesome. One on Republic, one next to the mall, and one on Commercial. They’re all on Saturdays and dog friendly. My favorite one is by the mall for prices. It’s the cheapest. But the other two are great too. They all participate in double ing up for EBT so if you use food stamps you can get $10 worth of veggies for $5. Great program we have for those struggling to afford vegetables.

Edit: there’s also fastnight and urban roots farms off the top of my head for local produce during the week. Fassnight I have a special place for because they introduced me and my daughter to canary melons which are now our favorite and we grow them ourselves.

Use quickfix if tested. If you work in manual labor and get injured, you can get fucked over. But past that, don’t stress about what you do off the job, just don’t post anything that can lead back to you that your employer could potentially see of what you do at home.

When I was 18(and living in a different state)my ex threw a pound of marijuana butter out into my back yard without telling me(idk if it went bad or what, he was working at a dispo at the time). My dog acted weird for two days and I dropped almost a grand at a vet freaking out till he finally came clean and told me she was probably ungodly high. She couldn’t stand up straight and kept just toppling over with her tongue half out of her mouth. She lived 7 more years after that reaching the ripe old age of 17, so I still wouldn’t say deadly overdoses are a danger… unless you feed that amount to your pet rat or something.

That was an extreme case, but keep your edibles out of reach like you would any other drug. It won’t kill your dog, but like, it probably wouldn’t be very nice either.

I saw an outburst at the Alamo before. My daughter(10)and I went to see something and when we walked to the bathroom after ordering drinks and food but before the trailers started this guy was clearly drunk and reached for my kid, I just moved between them and continued on our way with a huge glare. Idk if he wanted a high five or what, but don’t reach and stare at peoples kids. It’s fucking creepy. Thinking back I should have gone to management right then, but I didn’t think. We got back to the theater and saw the guy there. He was making a scene so about 3 or 4 of the teens-young adults working there was trying to get him and his (wife?) out.

Now I respect kicking people out like this. Love that. But I was majorly disappointed that it was young, small people trying to get this larger dude who was threatening to hit them out and not the cop hanging out in the lobby or upper management. Is there a reason it’s just the servers it seems who kick folks out? Does the cop being there just stay there for show?

Showing a good example for the kids about working class families? What good example? Risk your life for a job/school? This isn’t snow, it’s ice. You can’t just plow ice.

I get that it’s inconvenient. I’m losing my mind with my kid at home while I’m also trying to work. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I’d rather be in the office so I could actually unwind on my breaks rather than having her right in my ear every time I get up to try to go to the freaking bathroom. But it’s also incredibly unsafe for a whole bunch of people to be driving in this and dangerous for kids like mine who ride their bike or walk to school with cars sliding on these back streets. I understand it’s even worse for those who can’t work from home, but I think a good lesson to teach your kid is that sometimes weather happens and we have to adjust to it and shouldn’t always be on the roads.
