I've said this for quite a while: ALL COMPACT CARS SHOULD BE EVs. Leave the larger vehicles ICE for now. Compacts are used for commuting and daily driving, with the users expecting efficiency. It's the target market for EVs.

Pickup trucks and huge SUVs are what I consider the "forced EV" market- not quite ready for primetime but the buyers feel then need to jump on the bandwagon.

Once we get mass produced, widely purchased compact EVs down, the things we learned from building them would eventually spill over into larger vehicles.

I used to work for a guy that had a stick so far up his ass he couldn't slouch- didn't cuss, didn't joke, everything was dead serious business.

One day I went into his office and said "The network is going to go down for 20 minutes during lunch. Someone mucked up the firmware on the firewall and I have to reflash it."

He stared at me for 10-15 seconds...I was waiting to get yelled at for someone else's mistake....but then he just went "OK. Let me know when it's done."

Later that day I was in a meeting with some co-workers, he walked in, and blurted out "Hey...did you find out who fucked up that firmware?"

I was shocked...he never used that word in the office the entire 10 years I was there. I blinked a couple of times and said "Excuse me?"

He got a bit huffy, then in a forceful voice retorted "Yeah, I want to know who...in your words...fucked up the software. If we're talking like that in the office, I'm joining in." (I'm going to note he looked physically PAINED to say the f-word. I honestly think he's never said it before.)

Again, I blinked a couple of times and replied "I actually said 'MUCKED up the firmware.'"

We just stared at each other for a while...him looking at a room full for 10 people...and he mumbled "Oh...my mistake..." as he shuffled out of the room.

I'm a network engineer and deploy a lot of docks/hubs for clients. I look a look at this thing and will give it high marks for design: one of the big issues with multi-monitor setups on laptops is the laptop screen blocks the monitor due to the power delivery/dock cable only being 3ft long. It's pretty well thought out and I like the port placement.

The fail here is only one video port. In my experience 3-4 USB A ports at most are used (USB C is used for charging phones occasionally, but few use it for devices). Ethernet is a must, but the SD card readers are never used. The audio jack is 50/50.

If they would have added an HDMI port and a Display Port outlet, removed some of the useless stuff, and included adapters to switch between HDMI and Display Port, they would have had a winner.

For right now, stick with Plugable for corporate docks. Dell's PD docks are pretty good too.

It's expensive to make now, but machines could be made to automate much of the process and we'd eventually have Star Trek-style medical replicators that could scan an illness and synthesize a treatment based on body conditions. We have some cool stuff coming down the pike.

I'm a guitarist and get into this trap a lot. I'll get so busy I won't pick up my guitar for 4 months and feel guilty as hell. Then I'll force myself to do something I actually enjoy, start learning something new, then beat myself up when I get into it by thinking "I wasted so much time I could have used this knowledge years ago." It makes me depressed and I think I'm associating that with my music playing. That negative reinforcement creates a loop.

I need to start getting this "I'm doing it now instead of never" mindset going.

This only makes sense. It's going to be tied to the renewable energy industry, and there's a strong push for that due to political climates and climate change. I myself started weighing my portfolio heavily in those areas.
