Reply to In push to counter misinformation, R.I. to launch public conversations to foster media literacy by rhodyjourno
I taught a course like this at a RI institution of higher ed a few years back.I was utterly blown away by the complete lack of knowledge about source credibility. 20-ish students in the class, and I bet 16 of them walked in the door on the first day convinced that "if it's on the internet, it must be true."
I honestly have no idea what the local public high schools were doing.

Oh come on, they lead.

Reply to comment by hakapolita in Is there a name for the Mansfield/Foxborough/Wrentham/Plainville/Attleboro area? by BobQuasit
Honestly this is pretty much the right answer. The real answer probably involves “Hockomock”, but for people who don’t know where Mansfield is, I generally say it’s where 495 hits 95 south of Boston.

Reply to Got a quote for a ductless mini split.. $48K for 1300 sq. ft. house. Too much? by EuclidsStairs
OP, we had a 2-zone system put in ~5 years ago. 2x mini-splits downstairs and a ducted system upstairs, run from the same compressor outside. Sufficient to cool/heat a 1,900 sqft house.
Total cost (again, 5years ago) was $16k.
I know prices have gone up since then, but $48k is fucking bananas.

If you don’t need to be in the city everyday, you might put your money to better use by looking in a town served by commuter rail somewhere in between 128 & 495.
Franklin, Mansfield, and Sharon would fit the bill. All have great schools, all are an easy trip in on the CR and 45 min or less into the city when the traffic is light.
I’m sure there are plenty of others as well.

There have been a few dozen times in my 40-odd years that I'm really happy I remember the lyrics to "fifty nifty United States" that I learned in 3rd grade.
