Yup. I considered changing when I moved to Virginia. I’ve had Nationwide all my life and Costco and Geico came in at the exact same price I was already paying. I liked my agent, and she ended up saving my ass twice over the years, so it was definitely the right move.

Shop around. Find what’s best FOR YOU.

I still have Nationwide. They consistently come in as the cheapest or within $3-4 a month of it and their customer service has been top notch.

That’s my thought too.

I have a work friend who is an NCAA football and lax official. He and I talk about my umpiring days and how much I did enjoy it. He also knows I was a college football player. He’s trying to get me hooked up to do at least HS football and then maybe NCAA.

They need young people. I’m not “young” but I’m younger than most of the folks doing it now and it’s a fun side gig. I also announce local sports for extra cash, so this wouldn’t be too different.

100% this.

I know it sucks, and “no one will want to be a ref” but they need to be held accountable somehow. I was a little league umpire for most of HS and a few years in college. Did everything but HS ball. I never had a call I couldn’t defend. Even if the defense was “it was quick, and that’s how I saw it in the moment.” You gotta be held accountable or else there’s no reason to have any standards of quality. I would talk to coaches and parents between innings. If they got nasty, I’d walk away, but most of the time, they wanted to know why a call was made. As long as I told them what I saw, they were happy.

My best friend and I now have a connection for mushrooms. We did them once together in college and now, we try to do them once every few years together just to hang out and reset our brains and have fun together. We usually just hang out, play with the dog, play a board game, go for walks around his neighborhood etc. Its great. With having a regular contact now, I think we’ll be doing it annually.

Agree completely. He was smart to go where he did. It’s a great community with lots of money and will support a winning team. Boulder is awesome, so athletes will find it attractive off campus as well. He’s Deion Sanders. He’ll get recruits and attention and it may work out exactly as CU hopes. Or he could be a hell of a recruiter and have a hard time developing guys and working the Xs and Os and not turn out. But I think 3-4 years will be enough to tell.

Getting someone you want is absolutely the best. I got my admin assistant one year when I knew she was struggling a bit. I also knew exactly what she wanted for Christmas - new bread pans. She was a great baker, but had recently found out she was gluten intolerant and her old loaf pans were wearing out. I found a 2 loaf, 2 sheet, Bundt package and then 5lbs of almond flour. It was a little over the limit, but not a crazy amount. And she was SOOO happy. The first thing she made with them was a loaf of banana bread for me. So so good.
