We skiied 7Springs on Sunday evening. North face was pretty varied and not good so we stayed on the front side. Laps of Boomerang and Avalanche for the most part.

When the sun was still out, conditions were ok. Probably better than some other times we’d been due to them blowing snow at night. But once the sun went down, it all iced over. Everything was fast and hard. To the extent that most people stopped running Avalanche so my husband and I would get cheers and support from the lifts while we were running it.

We moved to Pittsburgh from the DMV too. I grew up here and swore I’d never come back, and here we are.

COL is hugely different. Even in the “fancy” burbs here, you’ll get far more for your money than in the DMV. The tax info mentioned above is important. Schools are all independent districts, managed separately, not like the county systems in the DMV. That can be tricky to manage and understand.

Driving is like the DMV in that many people feel they are more important and drive that way. But there is a special difference here where people feel like they need to be “nice” and let you go when it’s not your turn. The rules of driving tend to get ignored in that way. Pittsburgh nice is a whole different beast, because many people are outwardly nice, but if you’re not in the “in group” socialization can be tough. This holds specifically for parents with school aged children. Many of the other parents have known each other for decades by the time their kids go to school.

Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions.

We rented out the Century Square Cinema in West Mifflin for my sons birthday in 2021. They were doing a lot of rentals like that then, we had a private screening for just 10.

I called again about doing the same in 2022 and they weren’t doing the private showing anymore, but they were still doing birthday parties where you get the private room beside the theater for pizza/cake and then tickets to the showing, but open to the public.

Hope that info helps.

I did it three times in one week. No one stops traffic. The lights don’t prevent you from entering while the arrows change. They just change. First time I almost got hung out. Second time I was able to change about halfway across. Third time I was maybe 30 ft from the light on the tunnel side and they pulled out the big sign and the arrows changed.

Yes, it’s chaos. But it gets sorted out pretty quickly.
