Reply to Brooke Shields' movies are so creepy and inappropriate. Imagine your entire film career being reduced to movies which seemed so exploitative of her. by Lisieu_Lustre
Oddly enough, I did not find her attractive in her early days. I think older Brooke is very good looking.

I was going to mention In the Bedroom. This was very well received by the critics and is a great Indie film.

Iran used be very progressive, especially in the areas for women. Unfortunately the Shah also had a secret police that had a nasty habit of making people disappear. This allowed the religious zealots to take over and reverse all those gains.

In the early 2000s I was in a meeting with about a dozen people and one of the older gents referred to a blackout period as when they would be behind the green door. It took a minute for that comment to settle in and I sat there wondering how many people realized what kind of reference he just made in an open meeting.

Nice. I have collected older bills like that over the years. Don't know if they are worth anything, but they are cool to look at and see how things have changed.

I have to chuckle that you called out Seven Samurai. I it saw years ago and recently recorded it off TCM, but have yet to get around to watching it because it’s so long.
I saw a Platoon once and purposely have never watched it again. It was pretty intense and made quite the impact, but I fear that if I watch it again I’ll be desensitized to everything that’s going on and it will lose its impact

When I was seven or eight I saw The War of the Gargantuas, a cheesy, rubber suit monster movie. Didn't even make it to the end. Had nightmares for years.

I only saw the movie Jeremiah Johnson on regular TV. I rented it once from Blockbuster because I thought my daughter might like it. I told her it was fairly humorous. What I didn’t realize all those years was it a lot of the violence was edited out. This day I still get grief about telling them that Jeremiah Johnson was a comedy.

Very intense, very well done. I’ve seen the original black-and-white movie a couple of times and it’s really well done.

I went into the movie not knowing much about the story. I was quite bored and when Manson showed up, I knew where the plot was going and was not in the mood for it so I bailed.
