features, filters, inputs and outputs
people spend more on TVs for their living rooms. I myself don't even watch TV so spending on a decent dac/amp and speakers/headphones is more for me.

reminds me when i took my friend to visit his cousin in brooklyn at like 3 am in the morning... some guy was blasting Sucka MCs by Run DMC and it sounded like a night club in the hallway of the apartment lmao... couldn't hear a thing inside the apartment though, i found that strange.

its not "non audiophiles" its just low iq people in general. smart people value quality over everything. I was taught well by my parents when very young to value quality over quantity, my mom would say 1 pair of high quality shoes is better than having to buy 3-4 shoes that fall apart in less time.
when i hear these type of stories you guys are sharing about your friends going crazy about the price or whatever you enjoy spending your own money on makes me wonder why you keep such idiotic type of people around you lol.

I love my HD-58X, makes me wonder how the HD-660S2 sound in comparison (cheapest to highest priced 6 series)

i liked using my hd-58x over the hd-560s even though the soundstage is inside your head with them. the imaging felt more accurate and easier to tell where things were. got me curious about the 6600S2 now

when compared to my less expensive noires they seem really well designed but not built like a rock... if i am explaining that clearly. the hd-800 is mostly plastic

Some clown tried to tell me the 8XX sounds "trash" and anything you need to EQ is not good. Made no real sense to me, people eq LCD-* and they are regarded as really good headphones. Some people just love trolling

Unpopular opinion, I feel like they blow the 600 series out the water. Although the 660S2 got me curious

i just look at it as the music is mid focused and everything else is blurred. if it were a photograph it would be a picture of the vocalist very sharp and detailed then the band behind the vocalist blurred but present in the photo.

they didn't really make the headphones grip my head but they did 'fill' the space so that here is no more pressure on the top of the head/headband and the weight is alot more balanced

I bought a short cable for my desk but kept the stock HD800 cable since its super long for listening from bed side also. I feel like the new cables make the sound punchier but that is most definitely just placebo.

I've always seen people say HD-800s are the closest to planars you can get with a dynamic driver headphone. I tried a few Planars (not many) and I can agree. It made me appreciate the HD-800 (in my case HD-8XX) even more though since the HD-800S offer more a more dynamic sound than planars while still being super clear and accurate. + around the skull sound stage ofcourse.

from my own take, compressed soundstage and lack of dynamics is the simplest i can put it.
detail is great and everything is soft except the treble
they take eq well and are the most comfortable headphones ive ever worn, which negates most of the con's for me
