I was thinking of selling my HD58X but don't think its worth the hassle. Gonna convert them to bluetooth wireless sometime instead as a little project for when Im cleaning up the house got some beats to listen to wirelessly.

I got the same impressions from HD600 to HD800, i feel like they are just direct upgrade in the same sound style (fatigueless clarity). but alot of people wont see it like that i think lol

yep.. he has audiophilia now (can tell by the focused stare he is embarked in). but its ok, its manageable when caught at a young age. there is tons of information out there for this condition. He will do well with proper guidance and role models.

I usually box up my headphones and wear one for a few months.

then swap out of the blue to get that instant change in sound without being used to it.

I needed some comfortable passive sound isolation so wanted some closed backs and picked up Dan Clark Noires for a good deal. Packed up my other headphones and am gonna use these for a month. I've never used planars before but now I understand why people love them now (and these arent even the most sought after planars).

I just keep my KSC75's on hand for when im around the house doing things and need beats to kill time with.

I've walked off my desk a few times with HD-8XX's on cause of how open and big sounding the soundstage was (+ being intoxicated also didn't help)

I did the same with KSC75 with Yaxipad/headband. they are just so light on the head and soft that i sometimes forget i have them on.

EQ works good on these. I listen to Hip Hop aswell, although I sometimes prefer the HD-58X for hiphop cause it doesnt separate all the sounds in the mix + puts the rapper's voice more forward in the presentation. So you hear the music all blended together and behind the rapper so to say. But the HD-8XX sound amazing with well mastered music of anykind, you got an amazing setup there!

I got my 8XX with zeo's code for 700bucks and some change and for this price its one of the deals of the century imo. enjoy

What do you mean by "I heard that the EQ on these don't really shine."?

For me EQ is a must with these, I myself am using 'IEF neutral over-ear with bass' profile i found and it really fixes the sound for me. The mids were recessed but I changed to ZMF lambskin pads and while they are still not forward, there is now more impact to the sound making them push through when needed.

Final Audio VR3000 iems are advertised for gaming and being similar/same as A3000's only with cut corners on cable quality and packaging to lower the price. Haven't tried them for FPS gaming yet but they seem very v-shaped but leaning on treble being forward and sharp with a wide soundstage presentation. They might be really accurate for FPS gaming.
