How have I never heard/read "Shrub administration" before?! Social media has failed me.
Now, which Shrub in particular are you referring to? Or should I already know the answer to that?

I was in Bethesda & people were honking their horns & waving to everyone they saw. The sense of community was...dare I say Disney-esque?
I wasn't mad about it, by any means, but it was as if a declaration of peace had been issued after a 4-year long war.

Totally fair. I've grown up with dogs in addition to being a paid dogwalker, and I hear you.
I wish there was more consistency in how the cans were emptied, so that walkers could use any old bin & it wouldn't affect the bin owners like yourself. But heaven knows I'm not about to try & tell garbage collectors how to do their jobs.
IDK if it would solve anything, but if you feel so inclined, you could put a "No Poop Bags, Please" sign on the inside of your trashcan lid. Some people genuinely might not realize that the bags are grabbed individually, rather than the whole can getting upended into the garbage truck.
Edit: actually, this would be a great opportunity for an XKCD-esque diagram illustrating why you don't want poop bags in your bin. Should such a sign be necessary? Ehhh, probably not. Could it be effective? I'd like to think so, but I'm an optimist. YMMV.

I was going to ask, but I remembered I could Google it my damn self just as easily.
Looks like it's accredited and donations can be claimed on your taxes. I'm sure there are better metrics to go by, but those two are good enough for me.
Now if you'll excuse me - I have to go empty my bank account so I can do ALL the animal experiences!

u/Yikes_Brigade, you should check this out. I Googled the zoo based on Mostly's comment (I wanted to see if it was one of those awful road-side places or a legit institution) and OMFG YOU CAN PLAY WITH ALL THE CRITTERS!!!

IIRC - the Baltimore Zoo has a "Penguin Ambassador" program that gives you a similar option if you get married there.
My friend did it at her wedding, pre-Covid.

I'm not who you asked, but I believe that most single-family homes and similar dwellings (duplexes, rowhouses, etc.) are typically provided with a trashcan & recycling bin by DC govt. In my neighborhood the weekly pick-up is from the alley, so lots of folks leave their bins in the alley 24/7. I'm assuming u/ekkidee is referencing a similar set-up.
Personally, I'm torn on this particular circumstance. If the trash collectors dump the entire can/bin into the truck, then a couple loose poop bags shouldn't really matter. But if they instead grab the bags by hand & toss them into the truck, then those little poop bags will usually get left behind, sometimes for weeks, and that's a very unpleasant smell, especially in the summer. Obviously trash rarely smells good, but aged dog poop is it's own special level of yuck.

Totally fair. I've heard people use it to describe Mustangs, Camaros, and even BMW's, but that's obviously anecdotal on my part. Also, that was back in the mid-2000's, so I can absolutely see how the term may have been retconned in an attempt to cover-up its racist roots.

Not just police, but the Secret Service. Running from them has to be a sure-fire way to get on some lists you do not want to be on.

A cursory Google search explains that "rice" is an acronym for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements", wherein Race is defined as a competitive motorsport rather than a demographic descriptor.
I didn't know where the term came from before I read your comment, hence my Google search. I was fully ready to strike the term from my vocabulary as I could absolutely see it having derogatory origins, just like the terms "peanut gallery" or "gypped".

Knowles Station in Kensington. I had their fried chicken sandwich the other day and I was blown away by how good the chicken was. Plus, the size of the piece on the sandwich was so ginormous that I ended up cutting it in half and eating one half by itself.
They're a beer & wine store with an attached cafe, so the drinks options are pretty awesome as well.
