Reply to Is HELOC the only and good option for someone with low credit score to settle debts? by jM2me
Generally it's not a good idea to transfer "unsecured " consumer debt to a "secured" loan like a HELOC. Good way to lose your house..
Concentrate of keeping the mortgage paid in full and on time.
If you really cannot cut spending or earn more, then it'll be time to stop paying the credit cards and save up as much as you can in cash to make offers to settle.

Pay in full is the ideal. If you cannot, pay as much as you can while still not "swiping" the card for more purchases until it's paid off. The interest rates are insane and a huge waste of money

No easy ways because people would abuse the system. I've heard of people buying gift cards and then cashing those in?? but not sure how (and hear lots of horror stories aboit buying gift cards only to find them empty.) So...

Don't rush. Bit seems like you are off to a good start.
A Roth IRA right now would be a great idea.
>FZROX can only be bought/and or owned at Fidelty. Is this really that big of a problem
Not a problem. If you decide to move it later you can sell inside the IRA without tax consequences.
Save up a good pile of money for car-related stuff and for misc expenses and travel during college.

You are missing that presence is required from Day 1.
OP: It's hard without money.....you'll need a place to crash...airbnb, short-term rental, or hotel. Be forwarned...you'll need a lot of money down on an apartment. Might look for a roommate sublet to start??

Prefer Ally.com...easy set-up, easy to make it a joint account, easy to add beneficiary, and a Buckets feature for earmarked savings categories. Bonus points for extending the bonus interest for new deposits to existing account holders not just new accounts.

Figure out the insurance first.
Then start living on your salary only today (well, March 1st). Rework your budget now so that their entire check is going into savings. Also add the 100 (ask around for estimate) a month line item for diaper costs into this new trial run budget...which also goes into savings until needed.
By making the adjustment to budget now, it will remove a lot of the stress during that sleep deprived "4th trimester"

Not any kind of expert, but generally.... beneficiaries on IRA accounts are *separate* from the will. So any arrangements you made about the will would likely not to affect the distribution of the IRA. At least that is my understanding.
(The corollary to that is that a beneficiary of an IRA doesn't even need to be listed in the will and does not need to wait for probate in order to collect their money.)

I was referring to the way YNAB both subtracts the purchase from the category and simultaneously sets it aside for paying the card on the due date.
Import is a mess everywhere, not just YNAB, and is a problem that we should be pressuring our banks to fix rather than blaming the apps. How many of us contact help for the bank or CC and complain that it won't import into YNAB?

It depends on if you are sure sure you won't need to charge again (or have another card still open)...because it will be hard to get a new card right away. (Also they should lower the interest rate, not just the payment amount.)
