Wow the locals collected 10 million to make a nature preserve and prevent more condos and strip malls. Not really something you expect in Florida, kudos to them caring about their environment. And also I feel they got pretty lucky the state didn't screw them.

When I took sociology an interesting examination was that the wage gender distribution at the 75-100k bracket was more women because of nursing. Seems to still hold true

Where you live? I'm in NY and got a place that sells solid core six panel for about 100$. Home depot sells it for around 300$.

Reply to Second Home Down Payment by swanklax
Keeping it simple allot of people simply rent out the old home and use that to pay rent in the new city.
But there are allot of variables. How long do plan on living in the new home? Do you ever plan on returning to your old home? What happens if your job requires you to move? What happens if the old house tenant stops paying rent, can you afford both mortgages or mortgage and rent? Why a house why not an apartment in the mean time until you settle in?
Be very careful you're looking at two homes now, but there might be a chance you can have no homes if you really mess it up, or destiny really doesn't like you.

Stop using that bathroom and start slowly taking everything out of it. First to go should be the tub. Wanna save money, demo and remove everything that you can and then bring in someone (a few estimates are good) to evaluate and go from there.

No, just that religious freedom in kerela is huge. It's a communist state mostly in terms of economy, and free in whatever you want to practice. It also has a huge Christian base, compared to other parts of India. I find that part of India very live and let live, compared to the rest. I'm conservatively Muslim and I like that, live and let live. Their burning of the hijab has nothing to do with Kerela.

Kerala is pretty progressive. I guess it's more symbolic

Whatever you do, it'd be nice to get a 1 year update if you don't mind. I wonder how it'll work out. But I will recommend you definitely use a bidet so nobody flushes paper

You should be fine if it's been up for a month. My bathroom has ceiling tiles and not one has fallen and I believe it's 30 years old. I'm also a weirdo like you and tiled my other bathroom ceiling, but it's so fun to look at that I didn't mind the added cost.

I just replaced a bunch of windows at my dad's and my house. A regular double hung took like 2 weeks to make to spec and only cost like 435$ cash. I guess we were super lucky. Even a custom bay window took 3.5 weeks. I guess it helps when manufacturing and materials are local instead of being imported.

Here in NY we have a thriving Chinese community that makes windows local. See if you can't figure out if you have something like that where you're located. They sell all material and install everything from doors to gates to counter tops. The labor may be immigrants but they're local, made to spec and good quality. Good luck
Kinggambit90 t1_itt6iof wrote
Why 6 weeks for a window? Check the size of the window, and check home depot and lowes website for stock. If not call a much of window stores for an order, shouldn't take longer than 3 weeks. But first things first break the drywall and find the leak source.
