If all your friends are on xbox thats probably a better choice, otherwise just look at the games you prefer. I have both and play 90% ps5, but jump over to xbox for some of the games over there like HiFi rush, rogue legacy 2, and vampire survivors.

Honestly just depends on your budget, and preference. Im not a fan of Xbox, and literally only have it because of future releases for fallout and elder scrolls games. So what I would suggest is just looking at it game by game. Like I would check trophies, and try the game on gamepass, and If you really thinking I want to invest in it, go buy the ps5 copy, but if its something you think youll spend a day with then be over it, then just save the money, and get what you need off gamepass. You can also just wishlist an item and wait for a sale, while you check the gamepass version.

we are just getting to the point where we will start seeing more next gen only games, but I think full raytracing would be nice. Not having to compromise framerate, and be able to get full raytracing at 60 fps at an upscaled 1440 to 4k.

Edit: More importantly than a Ps5 pro, I want to see games start to future proof with dynamic resolutions, and unlocked framerate options for whenever the ps5 pro/next console comes. Then games will automatically be ready to run at a higher performance target.

The most trouble I have with xbox is with dolby vision randomly washing out colors.

edit: Technically xbox is more powerful on paper, but They dont make good exclusives that utilize that power. ps5 has exclusive games that fully utilize next gen. Xbox for years has been lacking in AAA quality, and with gamepass seem to try to give more games for your money, rather than high quality for your money.

There are 3rd party games where the graphical difference is noticable. For example in no mans sky when in a space station you can see the graininess from the 4k upscaling on the floors and walls on ps5, but on series X it looks smooth. But so far with 3rd party this is really the only place I notice a difference
